uPVC Lock Repair in Newcastle and North Tyneside

uPVC doors and windows are the most common door type across Newcastle and North Tyneside, and their locking systems-while reliable when new - do develop faults over time. Stiff handles, doors that will not lock properly, mechanisms that fail mid-use, and cylinders that have worn out are all regular call-outs for us. We carry replacement parts for the most common uPVC mechanisms and cylinders as standard van stock, which means the majority of uPVC lock repairs are completed on the first visit without needing to order anything. Call us on 07968 567171.

COMMON UPVC LOCK PROBLEMS WE FIX

Stiff or difficult-to-turn cylinder Usually a sign that the euro cylinder is wearing out. Lubricating it provides temporary relief but the cylinder generally needs replacing. We carry a wide range of sizes.

Door handle dropping or floppy The gearbox inside the multipoint mechanism has typically failed. The handle springs and internal mechanism wear over time and eventually the handle drops. This usually means the gearbox or the full mechanism needs replacing.

Door will not lock or latch correctly Can be caused by a failing multipoint mechanism, a dropped door putting the locking points out of alignment with the keeps in the frame, or wear in the gearbox. We diagnose on site and carry parts for common mechanism types.

Multipoint mechanism failure The multipoint system hooks, bolts, and rollers engage with the frame at multiple points when you lift the handle and turn the key. When the mechanism fails, some or all of these points stop engaging and the door is either insecure or cannot be opened. We carry replacement mechanisms for the most common brands.

uPVC door dropped and misaligned Over time, uPVC doors can drop slightly on their hinges, causing the locking points to miss their keeps in the frame. We can re-align the door and adjust the keeps so everything engages correctly.

uPVC window lock failure Window espagnolette locks, cockspur handles, and sash restrictor locks can fail through wear or accidental damage. We carry common replacement parts for uPVC window locking systems.

WHAT WE DO

We attend, diagnose the fault, and advise you on the repair before touching anything. For mechanism failures, we remove the old mechanism, fit the replacement, and fully test the door through the complete locking cycle before leaving. For cylinder replacements, wemeasure the existing cylinder, supply the correct size (including anti-snap if you want to upgrade), fit it, and issue new keys. Most uPVC repair jobs take under an hour on site.

FAQs

My uPVC door handle is stiff and hard to lift. Is that the mechanism?

Possibly, but it can also be door misalignment causing friction on the locking points. We diagnose on site before recommending any parts.

Can you repair my uPVC mechanism rather than replace it?

In some cases yes, but mechanisms that have failed internally usually need replacing. We will tell you which applies to your situation before starting.

My uPVC door opens fine but will not lock. What is wrong?

Most likely a mechanism or gearbox fault, or the locking points are misaligned with the keeps in the frame. Both are fixable. Call us on 07968 567171.

Do you carry parts for all uPVC door brands?

We carry parts for the most common mechanisms used across Newcastle and North Tyneside housing stock. Less common brands may occasionally require an order, but we will tell you at the time of diagnosis.

Do you repair uPVC windows as well as doors?

Yes. We cover window espagnolette locks, cockspur handles, and sash restrictors on uPVC windows.
