WHO WE ARE
Moorside Locksmiths is a family-run locksmith business based in West Moor, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE12. We have been trading since 2007, over 17 years and more than 6,000 jobs have been completed across Newcastle, North Tyneside, and Northumberland.
The business is run by Steve Flemming, an accredited Master Locksmith who trained with Taylors Locksmiths in Gateshead before building his own practice in the local area. Steve carries out all the work himself, which means you always get the same person on the job; no subcontractors, no different faces on different visits. Steve is often accompanied by Leo, the family dog, who takes the passenger seat on callouts and has become something of a fixture for regular customers across the area.
We are not a national franchise or a call centre that dispatches contractors. We are a local business, based here, working here, and we have been for nearly two decades.
WHAT WE STAND FOR
Genuine 24/7 availability When you call Moorside Locksmiths, Steve answers. Not an
automated message, not an out-of-hours service routed elsewhere - Steve takes the call
day or night and responds accordingly. If you call at 2am locked out of your home, you get
the same locksmith you would get at 2pm on a Tuesday.
No call-out fee - and we mean it There is no call-out fee. We are not going to charge you a
call-out fee and then absorb it into the job price under a different name. The price we quote
before we start is the price you pay. If you are not happy with the quote, you are not
committed to anything.
All costs agreed upfront We assess the job, tell you what it will cost, and wait for your
agreement before touching anything. There are no surprises on the invoice.
All work guaranteed We stand behind the work we carry out, covering both parts and
labour. If something we have fitted or repaired fails, we come back and sort it.
Master Locksmith accreditation Steve holds accreditation as a Master Locksmith. This is
not a self-declared credential - it requires formal training, examination, and ongoing
professional standards. It also means we carry insurance-approved locks from brandsincluding Chubb, Yale, UNION, ASSA, and Schlosser, and can advise on what your insurer
actually requires.
DBS checked and fully insured We hold full Public Liability Insurance and Steve is DBS
checked. For landlords, estate agents, and commercial clients who need contractors
meeting compliance requirements, we can confirm both on request.
